Digital Nomad Visa:

Digital Nomad Visas are Passive Income Visas granted for those who are able to prove that they have enough and independent income from outside The UAE and they can remotely work for their employer from The UAE.

Eligibility

  • The applicant should be either a Full time employment contract OR an Independent contractor contract with a company registered outside UAE
  • Applicant’s salary should be min USD 3500

Processing time 

3 to 4 weeks on average

Important information

  • Visa valid for 1 year
  • The process can be done while the applicant is in the country.
  • In case of renewal, the worker needs to be in-country until the new Virtual Working visa E-residency is issued.
  • The worker cannot be issued a local contract based on this visa.

 

Step by step process

Step 1: Initial Assessment (2-5 working days)

The Global Mobility team performs a full eligibility assessment once all documents are received.

Step 2: Preparing the Application (1 working day)

The Global Mobility team gathers the personal documents from the employee and prepares them in case specific processes are required (legalization, apostille and translations).

Step 3: Lodgement of Entry Permit Application (5-7 working days) 

The Global Mobility team will Lodge supporting documentation to the Authorities in coordination with the Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD). The applicant needs to be in Dubai from this step. Each application is subject to UAE authorities’ approval and certain applications may be randomly selected for detailed security checks which may delay processing.

Step 4: Application of Local Status Amendment (2-3 working days)

The Global Mobility team submit an application to amend applicant’s status inside the country and subsequent approval received.

Step 5: Medical & Biometric Tests (1-2 working days)

Applicant will undergo a medical examination which involves a blood test and a chest x-ray along with the submission of biometrics for the Emirates ID (if applicable).

Step 6: Issuance of virtual working permit (VWP) E-residency (3-5 working days)

Once a FIT medical report has been obtained, the VWP will be issued electronically.

Step 7: Issuance of Emirates ID (7-10 working days)

Emirates ID card issued after the issuance of the VWP. This concludes the VWP immigration process.

 

Documents required

1. Passport copy with minimum 6 months validity and 2 blank pages

2. Work verification letter issued by current company

3. Most recent payslips covering a period of one month

4. Official bank statement from the last three months (system generated will suffice)

5. Proof of health insurance with UAE coverage validity; (travel/ business insurance with a validity of 1 year is acceptable)

6. Recent and clear digital Passport Photo with white background
